Program overview

The Master of Applied Sciences program at Nilai University offers advanced study in a variety of scientific topics. By fusing theoretical understanding with practical applications, students get a greater understanding of certain scientific areas, such as biology, chemistry, or physics. Graduates are prepared for careers in academics, research, or specialized roles in companies related to their field of study.

Entry Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree (Level 6, Malaysian Qualifications Framework) in a related field with a minimum CGPA of 2.75, or its equivalent, as accepted by the HEP Senate.

Programme Module

The Master of Applied Sciences programme encompasses the following five phases:

Phase I – Pre-requisite Core Course (3 credit hours)

Research Methodology and Statistics (Only for students who do not have sufficient knowledge or background on research methodology and statistics).

Phase II - Preliminary Research

This represents the first part of the Master's thesis project and forms the basis on which students build their proposal and eventually their project.

Phase III - Proposal Defence

Each student must publicly present and defend his/her research proposals.

The student is only allowed to continue with his/her research to Phase IV on passing of the defence of his/her proposal.

Phase IV - Thesis Preparation

The student proceeds to his/her data collection, data analysis and report writing.

Phase V - Viva Voce

After completion and submission of the thesis, the student is required to attend a Viva Voce to orally defend his/her thesis.

Available scholarships

  • International Discount (MENA Region)

    Up to 30% coverage

    A 30% tuition fee reduction is available to students originating from the MENA region. This discount features no prerequisite conditions and will be applied automatically to eligible student accounts upon enrollment.

  • International Discount

    Up to 50% coverage

    A 50% tuition fee reduction is available to all international students. To qualify, applicants must present their official high school certificate during the application process. To retain this 50% discount throughout their studies, students must maintain the required minimum CGPA at the end of every semester.

Entry requirements

Master's: a bachelor's degree in a related field.

Typically IELTS 5.5 or equivalent (TOEFL / PTE). Some universities offer a preparatory English program if you haven't reached the score yet.

Exact requirements vary by program, and an English certificate such as IELTS or an equivalent may be required.
